Smart Gilas Pilipinas is now under a new system, headed by new head coach and new players.
Rajko Toroman is replaced by Talk n' text head coach, Chot Reyes, with his choice of coaching staff. Chot will leave his team in the PBA after this season and will focus on the national team.
Coach Norman Black will take his place as head coach of TNT.Coach Norman left Ateneo to take the role.
Today he announced the 16-man line up, on the list are,pointguards, Jimmy Alapag, Alex Cabagnot, Jayson Castro, LA Tenorio, Gary David, and Ryan Reyes, shooting guards James Yap, Larry Fonacier, Gabe Norwood, Marcio Lassiter, forwards Arwind Santos, Ranidel de Ocampo, Marc Pingris, and Kelly Williams, centers Enrico Villanueva and Sonny Thoss.
Obviously some people will react negatively with his choice but he explained, "No need to justify anything. Anytime you try to pick out 16 of the country’s best 150 players, someone will be left out and your choice will be questioned,”
This is not yet the official line up of the team, this is still subject for approval by the PBA and player's team. They are also planning to take standout amateurs and collegiate players in the line up.
